Special Interests

I have recently completed  a MSc. in Clinical Optometry from City University which involved every aspect of Optometry so I am comfortable with modern aspects of  all the specialities.

Diabetes Monitoring

I worked for a number of years at the John Kilner Diabetic Unit in Epsom hospital screening for diabetic retinopathy. I now have a fundus camera and am able to offer diabetic screening in my Practice. This involves a thorough fundus examination to detect and monitor any changes due to diabetes and referring back to the hospital anyone who would benefit from laser treatment. A healthy Fundus

One of the major new developments in Optometry that will be introduced in the near future is the change in the law that will allow Optometrists to prescribe medications for non-sight threatening eye conditions.  I have now completed the necessary courses  and passed the exams, and now expect to be amongst the first cohort of Optometrists who will be qualified to start prescribing in 2007.
